ABOUT CODE AWARDS

” Hi, this is Gökhan Birçek. I am 25 years old computer engineer. I am familiar with computers ever since I was a kid. Lately, I have been developing my own games independently. Cellvivor, the winner of the game category in the first year of the KOD Awards competition, is also one of those games. It is truly honorable to have received awards in this project, which is comprised of very valuable contenders and supporters, shaped within the scope of KOD Awards. The idea of computer games to be used for education as well as for fun is a terrific point of view. I hope that the support given to this area will increase in the future. I would like to thank the valuable KOD Awards team for this opportunity. I am happy because of their matured contribution to the education. “

ABOUT GAME

” Cellvivor is a project emerged from a dream to create a game where students are recommending each other and teachers have agreed upon and telling their students about it. I hope it will make a contribution. If we mention about how the game works, our hero begins to an adventure from a bacteria to a plant cell and all the way to the animal cell, respectively. The most important goal of our Hero is to keep the cell alive by helping the cells’ and organelles’ various functions, which they are loosing. “

ABOUT CODE AWARDS

” I have been graduated from İstanbul Kültür University, Department of Computer Engineering, this year. I am currently working at Üner Wood Products Co. I was informed by my friend about the KOD Awards competition. I was told that I could do something for this contest. However, 6 months of the application period has been passed and although I did not lean towards participating at that time, we began to work in our spare time and developed the game. It is really good that there are competitions on education and people are encouraged to enter this field. I hope that not only the Informatics Foundation of Turkey but also other institutions will launch programs encouraging people in this field. “

ABOUT GAME

““Understanding Isaac” is a game which aims to teach physics laws starting from Newton Laws with the high level of excitement of the main character “Isaac” who woke up to a desolate world all alone.”

ABOUT CODE AWARDS

“As The KOD awards shows us that education can be made much easier and more enjoyable by games, it is also the first and largest organization in the field that creates awareness in Turkey as well as a pretty broad social platform that anyone who’s interested in developing or playing games can meet. When I participated in KOD Awards, I was a senior at Computer Engineering and upon my graduation, I entered my first job through one of the contenders whom I met in the competition, and now we produce our new games together in the same company. 🙂 In this aspect, the KOD awards contribute directly to the development of the digital gaming industry in Turkey. No matter whether you are on the developer or player side of the game, KOD Awards is a great project that makes great contributions to your life! “

ABOUT GAME

“Obsidian is a path-finding puzzle game designed to break the light of the character’s staff with the help of a limited number of mirrors and lenses, to draw a path to the exit point and making the character to follow the path. Meanwhile, the presence of diamonds, rubies and gold in the scene plays a key role in moving to advanced levels of play. Thus, the path must be drawn over as many bonus objects as possible and eventually reach the exit point.”
